28 September 2025 05:53

The final stage of the Laros 2025 joint Russian-Lao military exercise was held at the Commadam training ground in the Lao People's Democratic Republic. In the course of practical actions, military personnel of the two countries practiced the liberation of a settlement and hostages held by conditional terrorists.

Special forces groups from Russia and Laos landed in the jungle. Having covered 30 kilometers over rough terrain, the units reached the rear of the imaginary enemy, where combat swimmers forced a water barrier.

Fire support for the joint actions of the units was provided by armoured personnel carriers, infantry fighting vehicles, sniper pairs as well as units of AGS-17 automatic grenade launchers and ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft guns located at commanding heights. Crews of portable anti-aircraft missile systems provided cover from air attacks. During the main stage, unmanned aerial vehicle teams and the latest Russian-made robotic systems were also involved.

Laros 2025 joint Russian-Lao military exercise was held in the Lao People's Democratic Republic on September 15. The event was timed to coincide with the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Laos and the 50th anniversary of the proclamation of the Lao People's Democratic Republic. The Russian Federation was represented at the exercise by units of the Eastern Military District.
