On September 24, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Marko Djuric on the sidelines of the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
The ministers acknowledged the progressive development of strategic partnership relations between the two countries, noting the sustained intensity and substantive nature of bilateral contacts despite the ongoing crisis in the international relations system. They discussed key issues pertaining to bilateral collaboration.
In-depth consultations were conducted regarding coordination within international organisations, with particular attention to regional affairs - especially the situation in Serbia's Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija and the Republika Srpska (Bosnia and Herzegovina). The Russian side reaffirmed its unwavering support for Serbia's territorial integrity and sovereignty. The necessity for strict adherence to the fundamental provisions of UN Security Council Resolution 1244 and the General Framework Agreement for Peace (Dayton Agreement) was underscored as essential for achieving a durable and sustainable settlement in the Balkans.
