Conversation with workers of Motovilikha Plants
President of Russia Vladimir Putin: Good afternoon.
Today you celebrate Gunsmith's Day. Please accept my greetings and best wishes.
I want to thank you for your work. You know, we tend to think of the defence industry in the same way as we think of doctors: when we fall ill, we turn to doctors; and when hard times come, our first thought is of the defence industry, which we have always been proud of, and with good reason.
I hope that your enterprise has also left the hard times behind. You can probably see this yourselves: the situation here, in these production facilities, is very different from what it was a while ago. Now everything has been restored, and everything is working.
I hope and believe that the events related to the special military operation will eventually pass but demand for a modern, capable Armed Forces will not diminish. On the contrary, we will carry on developing the Armed Forces to make them modern, compacted, and powerful. And without your efforts, without the defence industry, this would be impossible.
Therefore, I would like to thank you for what has already been done. I hope that together we will continue to strengthen the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, ensuring the country's independence and sovereignty. Without your work, this cannot be done.
I wish you every success. Thank you very much, and happy Gunsmith's Day.
Remark: Thank you!
Remark: Mr President, next year our enterprise will celebrate its 290th anniversary. We would be honoured to welcome you as our guest, to see our achievements in this period. We would be delighted to see you.
Vladimir Putin: Thank you very much. Your enterprise is truly unique. For almost 300 years, full-cycle artillery systems production has been ongoing here, probably one of the very few in our country, perhaps the only one of its kind. It has a remarkable history. I will do my best to attend.
I have no doubt that during this period - a short time, in comparison with your long history - much will be achieved.
For certain weapons and products, as you know, our production has grown not by a few percent, but several times over: two, three, ten, fifteen, and for some items, almost thirtyfold. Thirtyfold - just within the space of eighteen months to two years. Quality has also improved: the equipment is modern and in demand.
I am confident that many more positive results await your enterprise this year as well. I wish you every success.
Remark: We would also like to thank you for taking our company out of bankruptcy, and we extend our thanks to the Ministry of Industry as well. We are very happy that we are now working successfully and developing. On behalf of the entire team — thank you.
Vladimir Putin: You are welcome. Let me stand with you [to pose for a photo together].
