I would like to greet organisers of and participants in the International Anti-Fascist Forum 2025 marking the International Memorial Day for the Victims of Fascism.
This year, we are celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, and it would be appropriate to recall that the nations of the Soviet Union played a decisive role in destroying Nazism; they sacrificed many millions of lives, while straining their forces and resources. The International War Crimes Tribunal in Nuremberg unequivocally and sternly condemned Nazi criminals, their accomplices and collaborators.
Unfortunately, we are forced to state that multiple Western states have now become less immune to the Nazi virus. It appears that they have forgotten the high price of peace and the possible consequences of actions by people who are convinced of their own exceptionalism, chauvinism, Russo-phobia and anti-Semitism.
It is therefore our sacred duty to continue preserving historical truth and to take practical steps for thwarting neo-Nazi trends and moods in any forms and manifestations. In this connection, one cannot but rejoice that an overwhelming majority of the international community's members solidarise with us. This is convincingly proved by the results of voting an annual Russian-backed draft resolution of the UN General Assembly on combating the glorification of Nazism.
I am convinced that your meeting will also make its contribution to common efforts to combat this man-hating ideology. I wish you productive discussions and all the best.
