Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un held a bilateral meeting in Beijing, Russian media outlet TASS reported Wednesday.
Both leaders attended grand commemorative gathering marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War Wednesday morning in Beijing.
Putin and Kim took this opportunity to hold the meeting, TASS reported. The talks are taking place at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, where the Russian president is staying during his visit, according to the report.
According to a video released by Kremlin, Putin and Kim took an Aurus car to the meeting venue.
Another Russian media outlet RT reported Wednesday on X that the both leaders smile, handshake, and pose for pictures during their meeting in China.
According to TASS, Putin noted that in the morning they had jointly attended the commemorative events hosted by China to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory. As part of the celebrations, China staged a large-scale military parade on Tiananmen Square.
"All of these events were held brilliantly, simply very well, at a high level," Putin emphasized, TASS reported.
Relations between Russia and North Korea are developing in a special way, Russian President Vladimir Putin said, according to Sputnik International.
"Recently, relations between our countries have assumed a special trusting and friendly character, an allied character," Putin said.
RT reported on X that during the meeting, Kim said that "We have co-op ongoing. In every sector results must be up to the mark and grow."
"If there is any way we can help and support Russia, we will always do it — it is our brotherly duty," Kim was quoted by RT on X. RT also reported that Kim thanked Putin for this meeting.
Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), arrives in Beijing on Sept. 2, 2025, for the commemorations marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, Xinhua reported.
