On August 22, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a telephone conversation with Executive Vice President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Delcy Rodriguez Gomez.
During the conversation, the mutual commitment to further strengthening the strategic partnership between Russia and Venezuela was reaffirmed. The parties discussed current bilateral issues, agreed to expand cooperation and coordination of their approaches in global matters, including within the Group of Friends in Defence of the UN Charter.
Sergey Lavrov expressed solidarity with the Venezuelan leadership and confirmed Russia's comprehensive support for its efforts to safeguard national sovereignty and ensure institutional stability in the face of mounting external pressure on Caracas.
