On July 11, in Kuala Lumpur, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov participated in the 15th Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the East Asia Summit (EAS) and the 32nd ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) on Security.

During discussions addressing pressing matters pertaining to the Asia-Pacific region, the Russian delegation underscored the mounting security risks arising from militarisation and the establishment of a networked system of bloc-based structures serving NATO's interests. Moscow reaffirmed its consistent policy of reinforcing the ASEAN-centred cooperative framework through equal, depoliticised dialogue and the expansion of practical collaboration.

At the EAS meeting, key aspects of preparations for the 20th East Asia Summit, scheduled for October 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, were reviewed. In accordance with Russia's proposal to enhance regional socio-cultural interconnectedness, work has commenced on drafting a Leaders' Statement to formalise this initiative.

The ARF session concentrated on augmenting the Forum's capacities in counter-terrorism, non-proliferation, disarmament, emergency response, maritime security, and ICT security. A programme delineating the Forum's undertakings in these domains for the forthcoming year was adopted.
