
Warships of Russian Navy and Myanmar Navy start Marumex 2024 naval exercise in Andaman Sea

A detachment of the Pacific Fleet's ships comprising the corvettes Gromky, Rezky, Hero of the Russian Federation Aldar Tsydenzhapov and the medium sea tanker Pechenga left the port of Thilawa (Republic of the Union of Myanmar) for the Andaman Sea.
A day earlier, the opening ceremony of a joint naval exercise involving ships of the Russian Navy and the Myanmar Navy called Marumex 2024 took place. Also, the command staff of the ships of the two countries held coordination on practical actions of the joint forces at sea.
The Myanmar Navy is represented by the landing platform dock Moattama, the frigate Sin Phyu Shin, the corvette Tabinshwehti and one diesel-electric submarine.
The main objective of the exercise is to comprehensively develop and strengthen naval cooperation between the countries, jointly counter global threats and ensure the safety of civilian shipping in the Asia-Pacific region.
