
Admiral of Fleet Kasatonov frigate fires missiles from Barents Sea at shore targets

As part of planned combat training activities, the Northern Fleet's frigate Admiral of the Fleet Kasatonov launched missiles using a main missile system to hit a coastal target.
The practical firing was carried out from the Barents Sea by a Kalibr cruise missile at a practice target located at a distance of more than 1,300 kilometres at the Chizha training ground in Arkhangelsk region.
The missile firing area was closed for civilian navigation and aviation flights in advance. Ships of the Kola Flotilla's all-arms forces and the Hydrographic Service of the Northern Fleet closed the area.
According to objective control data, the target has been successfully hit.
The 22350 Project frigates are multi-role warships capable of effectively fighting the surface, air, and underwater enemy forces as well as striking at land and coastal facilities for a distance of more than 1,500 kilometres.
At present, the Northern Fleet includes three such frigates: the frigate Admiral Gorshkov, the frigate Admiral of the Fleet Kasatonov, and the frigate Admiral Arseny Golovko named after the legendary Commander of the Northern Fleet during the Great Patriotic War that was take into service to the Russian Navy last December.
