Frigate Admiral Golovko crew performs surface-to-air missile firing training in Sea of Barents

09.10.2024

The frigate Admiral Golovko crew trained to use the Poliment-Redut anti-aircraft missile system repelling mock enemy air attacks in the waters of the Barents Sea. As part of the exercise, the ship's crew performed combat training shots on targets simulating fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles as well as cruise missiles aimed at the ship.

A target missile from the coast of the Kola Peninsula was launched by the Bal coastal missile system from the Northern Fleet missile formation onto the peninsula of Rybachy (Murmansk region).

The firing training areas were timely closed to navigation and civil aviation flights.

The frigate Admiral Golovko is a modern multipurpose ship with guided missile weapons designed for missions in offshore maritime and ocean zones. The frigate Admiral Golovko was commissioned by the Navy in 2023. This year, as part of the Ocean 2024 strategic command post exercise, the frigate crew successfully carried out missile and artillery firing at sea, air and coastal targets, including the Kalibr cruise missile from the high latitude regions of the Arctic.
