
4th-gen nuclear submarines Emperor Aleksandr III and Krasnoyarsk enter service with Pacific Fleet Submarine Force

The Pacific Fleet Submarine Force base, located in closed town Vilyuchinsk, hosted a welcoming ceremony for the nuclear-powered strategic submarine Emperor Aleksandr III and the multi-purpose nuclear-powered submarine Krasnoyarsk who made the Arctic inter-fleet passage from the Northern Fleet right to the base at the Pacific Fleet.
The servicemen were met by Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation Pavel Fradkov and Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy Admiral Alexander Moiseyev.
The ceremony was also attended by Commander of the Pacific Fleet, Admiral Viktor Liina, Governor of Kamchatka region Viktor Solodov, personnel of the Pacific Fleet Submarine Force, and families of submariners.
Captain 1st Rank Oleg Grishaev, the commander of the nuclear submarine Emperor Aleksandr III, and Captain 1st Rank Ivan Artyushin, the commander of the nuclear submarine Krasnoyarsk, reported to the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy Admiral Aleksandr Moiseyev. Pavel Fradkov presented gifts on behalf of the Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation to the commanders of submarines during the solemn ceremony.
Soon, the crews of the newest nuclear-powered submarine Emperor Aleksandr III and Krasnoyarsk will have to replenish their stocks to the required standards and start tasks of the Navy command according to the combat training plans.
Constructing the strategic nuclear submarines and multirole nuclear submarines is one of the highest priorities of the Russian Ministry of Defence and the High Command of Navy. There is continuing work to develop a maritime strategic nuclear force in the Northern and Pacific fleets.
Submarine seamen are performing successfully combat duty tasks in all latitudes of the World's Oceans and seas on the modern 4th-gen Yasen class multipurpose nuclear submarines and Borei class nuclear submarines.
