Two PLA Navy ships make call at Pacific Fleet's home port

Today, destroyer Xining and frigate Linyi of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy arrived in Vladivostok.

At the mooring berth No. 33, the Pacific Fleet's home port hosted a solemn welcoming ceremony. The event was attended by Russian seamen, compatriots of the guests living in the capital of Primorsky region. The Chinese sailors were greeted with bread and salt following the Russian tradition.

Rear Admiral Aleksandr Shvarts, the deputy commander of the Primorye Flotilla, welcomed the senior of the PLA Navy detachment.

'The friendship between our peoples is fruitful. We are pleased to strengthen it through such friendly visits. Our navies continue to work together to maintain the peace and security of the Asia-Pacific region in the maritime domain,' said Rear Admiral Aleksandr Shvarts in his welcoming remarks.

'We have only just arrived, having moored our ships at the pier, and we have immediately felt the warmth and kindness of your people. We are ready to make joint efforts with Russia's Pacific Fleet to cooperate and continue the fraternal friendship between the two fleets' said in reply Admiral Yao Chun Yong, deputy commander of the Navy under the People's Liberation Army Northern Theater Command.

The PLA Navy crews will participate in sports and cultural events. Foreign seamen are expected to have tours round the city and a visit to the Pacific Fleet Museum.

The naval visit of the PLA Navy ships will last until 21 September, after which the ships of the two countries will sail off for the joint Russian-Chinese military exercise.
