
Ocean 2024 CPX: Caspian Flotilla warships put to sea

Today, in the course of the Ocean 2024 strategic command post exercise, warships of the Caspian Flotilla put to sea to eliminate surface and aerial targets of the mock enemy.
More than 30 warships and support vessels - the missile ship Dagestan, the small artillery ships Astrakhan and Volgodonsk, the small missile ships Veliky Ustyug, Grad Sviyazhsk, and Uglich, the coastal minesweepers Magomet Gadzhieyv and German Ugryumov, the anti-sabotage boats and inshore minesweeper - are involved in this stage of the strategic command post exercise in the waters of the Caspian Sea.
In the course of the strategic command post exercise, the ships' crews are to perform 200 combat exercises, including live-fire drills with the use of A190-01 Universal and AK-306 artillery system.
Three sea ranges in the Caspian Sea waters will be involved in the special command post exercise.
More than 400 warships, submarines and support vessels, over 120 naval aircraft, some 7,000 units of weaponry, military and special hardware, and more than 90,000 personnel will participate in the drills, which will take place in the waters of the Pacific and Arctic oceans, Mediterranean, Caspian, and Baltic seas.
The Ocean 2024 strategic command post exercise is aimed at checking the readiness of the senior staff of the Russian Navy to operate all-arms groups of forces in the areas of responsibility, to solve non-standard operational tasks, to make full use of high-precision weapons, advanced and modern weapons and military hardware in the practical part of the exercise, and to expand cooperation with the navies of partner countries to perform joint maritime missions.
