Combat potential of armoured hardware significantly increases after introducing AI elements

13.08.2024

The combat potential of armoured hardware significantly increases after introducing AI elements as evidenced by the experience of the special military operation. Chief of the Artificial Intelligence Technology Development Directorate of the Russian Defence Ministry Colonel Vasiliy Yelistratov said that to TASS on the sidelines of the ARMY 2024 Forum.

'Many samples of armoured vehicles that return to the rear areas from the special military operation zone for repairs are redeployed after repairs with elements of artificial intelligence, namely remotely controlled firing modules, lock-on systems, and driving systems. In fact, it seems like the chassis is the vehicle made in the 80s of the last century, but this is a completely new model of armament, which in modern conditions shows very different results. At the moment, we can say that the combat potential of weaponry after recovery and installation of elements of artificial intelligence are significantly higher than the basic ones, the experience of their use in the special military operation zone proved that,' he said.

Yelistratov added, that at the moment the Russian military department develops a method of evaluating the effectiveness and suitability of these systems for carrying out the measurement, as it takes laboratory conditions.
