Russian Navy completes large-scale exercises on combat employment of fleets and Caspian Flotilla

The Navy units involved in the scheduled exercises in operative zones of the Northern, Pacific, Baltic fleets, and in the Caspian Flotilla area of responsibility are completing their missions. Soon, the ships participated in the drills will return to the base.

'I believe, the main purpose of the exercises is achieved. The Navy Headquarters will make precise analyse of the surface fleet, naval aviation, and coastal units actions during the combat exercises,' Said Navy Commander-in-Chief Admiral Aleksandr Moiseyev.

In total, around 300 surface ships and vessels, submarines, supply vessels, over 50 aircraft, over 200 combat and support vessels, and over 20,000 servicemen and civil servants from different units were engaged in the exercises. For several days, the ships' crews, the Naval Aviation, and coastal units of three fleets and the Caspian Flotilla performed more than 300 combat exercises with live fires. Moreover, anti-aircraft and artillery guns practised sea and air training targets.

The command and control bodies of the fleets and the Caspian Flotilla practised cooperation with other security agencies and federal executive authorities while training on organisation of the bases defence, suppressing illegal activities at sea, organising water rescues, and other multilevel activities.

The main goal of the drills was to check actions of the command of the Russian Navy on all levels as well as combat readiness of the ships' crews, Naval Aviation and coastal units to perform tasks according to the purpose.
