Russia's Defence Minister Andrei Belousov held talks with President-elect and Minister of Defence of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto
They discussed current status and prospects for developing Russia-Indonesia bilateral cooperation in the field of defence.
'We consider Indonesia as one of the most important partners of Russia in Asia-Pacific,' the Russian Defence Minister stated.
Andrei Belousov recalled that amicable relations between Russia and Indonesia have marked the 74th anniversary this year. This fact provides a solid foundation for developing cooperation between the armies of the two countries.'The priority is given to the joint operational and combat training. The Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation expressed confidence that the meeting would strengthen inter-departmental ties, add impetus for new initiatives and further work on developing mutually beneficial cooperation.
The Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation also congratulated his Indonesian counterpart on victory in the presidential election.
'This event is an evidence of high trust towards you from the people of Indonesia,' Andrei Belousov noted.
In response, Prabowo Subianto thanked the Russian Defence Minister for the opportunity to meet and thanked the Russian Federation for its cooperation.
'Russia has always helped Indonesia, and we will never forget it,' Prabowo Subianto noted.
