Il-38 aircraft crews perform anti-submarine tasks over Barents Sea

31.07.2024

The Il-38 pilots of the Joint Aviation Regiment of the Northern Fleet performed training flights over Barents Sea waters. The servicemen performed tasks on searching for submarines of the mock enemy, which were imitated by the fleet's submarines.

During anti-submarine tasks, two anti-submarine aircraft were deployed.

The pilots honed tactical manoeuvers on searching and tracking submarines using radar and hydroacoustic means of locating underwater targets.

While performing combat tasks, the anti-submarine aircraft crews honed piloting in difficult weather conditions, as well as navigated on devices and went on the course over the blind country.

The flights took place on the regiment's air base in Murmansk region. The anti-submarine aviation sorties were preceded by thorough preparations to check the readiness of the engineering staff, ground services, and specialists to support flight training tasks.
