
Russian Defence Minister Andrei Belousov congratulates 45th Airborne Special Operations Brigade on anniversary and presents state awards to paratroopers

During to a working visit to the units of the Moscow MD, Russian Defence Minister Andrei Belousov congratulated the personnel of the 45th Airborne Special Operations Brigade on the 30th anniversary of its formation and presented the servicemen of the brigade with state awards.
Deputy Russian Defence Minister Colonel General Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, Chief of Staff of Airborne Troops Lieutenant General Anatoly Kontsevoy, and Commander of 45th Airborne Brigade Major General Vadim Pankov took part in the event.
The servicemen, who demonstrated valour, courage, and heroism while performing combat tasks in the special military operation zone, received orders of Courage, medals for Valour, Suvorov Medals, and medals For Bravery second class.
Andrei Belousov pointed out that the personnel of the brigade rightfully serves as an example of bravery, military prowess, and professionalism.
'No wonder more than 5,000 servicemen of the formation were awarded with high state awards, and 21 received the title the Hero of the Russian Federation. Nowadays, the formation's personnel effectively performs the most responsible tasks in the special military operation zone acting cohesively in a complex environment implementing the motto 'The strongest wins,' said Russian Defence Minister Andrei Belousov.
The head of the Russian military department is confident that the servicemen of the 45th brigade will continue to honourably perform their military duty and make a significant contribution to strengthening the country's defence capability.
During the working visit, Russian Defence Minister got acquainted with the conditions of accommodation for servicemen, the state of the training and material base, and storage depots for weapons and military hardware.
During the tour around the military town, Andrei Belousov paid attention to uncompleted accommodations. The Head of the Department of Construction of the Russian Defence Ministry reported to the Minister that the buildings of the barracks and two residential buildings are at the final stage of construction and will be commissioned by the end of this year. Andrei Belousov paid special attention to the urgent compliance with deadlines for commissioning of facilities.
During the visit to the brigade, Andrei Belousov laid wreaths to the Fallen Soldiers Memorial, attended the airborne formation's museum, where he made a note in the book of honoured guests and also talked to the servicemen.
During its 30-year history, the brigade's servicemen have performed peacekeeping tasks in zones of inter-ethnic conflicts in Transnistria, North Ossetia, Abkhazia, participated in the elimination of illegal armed groups in the Chechen Republic, counter-terrorist operation in the North Caucasus, took part in the operation to force Georgia to peace, ensured the security of citizens in the Kyrgyz Republic, performed special tasks in the Syrian Arab Republic. From the first days of the special military operation, the brigade's servicemen have been performing tasks in the most difficult and important directions.
