
Maritime Interaction 2024: Russian-Chinese naval exercise completes in South China Sea

The Maritime Interaction 2024 joint naval exercise involving the Russian Navy and the PLA Navy has come to an end in the South China Sea. Its primary purpose was to strengthen naval cooperation between the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China as well as to maintain peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region.
The navies improved joint action in search-and-rescue operations at sea.
During the Maritime Interaction 2024 exercise, some 30 combat exercises were carried out, to include joint live-fire artillery drills at sea, coast, and air targets.

The first joint naval exercise of the Russian Navy and the PLA Navy was held in the Yellow Sea in 2005. Since 2012, it has been held on a regular basis in various regions.
