On first day of Maritime Interaction 2024 naval exercise between Russian Navy and PLA Navy, sailors from two countries practise anti-submarine warfare and conduct artillery firings
16.07.2024
The maritime part of the Maritime Interaction 2024 naval exercise between the Russian Navy and the PLA Navy began with an anti-submarine episode, during which joint efforts in the waters of the South China Sea detected and destroyed one submarine of the mock enemy. In the course of practical operations, the combat crews of the Russian and Chinese ships fired rocket-propelled bombs.
Next, ships of the Russian Navy and PLA Navy conducted artillery firing against mock naval targets.
The joint detachment of Russian and Chinese ships is represented by the corvettes 'Gromkiy' and 'Rezkiy' of the Pacific Fleet, three warships and one auxiliary vessel of the PLA Navy. The Maritime Interaction 2024 Russian-Chinese exercise is being held from 15 to 17 July in the South China Sea.
For reference: The first joint naval exercise between the Russian Navy and the PLA Navy was held in 2005 in the Yellow Sea. Since 2012, it has been held on a regular basis in various regions.
