Northern Fleet conducts anti-submarine exercise in Barents Sea
04.06.2024
Today, as part of combat training, the Northern Fleet kicked off a planned anti-submarine exercise in the Barents Sea.
During the exercise, the personnel are to practise searching and tracking a hostile submarine in cooperation with submarine crew and anti-submarine aviation forces.
Large anti-submarine ships Admiral Levchenko and Vice Admiral Kulakov have left the main base of the Northern Fleet in Severomorsk to reach the designated areas as part of the surface action group.
Two nuclear submarines of the Northern Fleet are also involved in the exercise. One of them, the multi-purpose one, will act jointly with the surface action group, and the other one will have to identify a mock enemy.
During the final stage of the exercise, the crews of anti-submarine ships will perform live-fire drills with the use of anti-submarine weapons.
