Servicemen of the Central MD's motorised rifle formation underwent drills on radiological, chemical, and biological reconnaissance of an area near Orenburg.
The drills took place at the Totsky training ground. According to the plan of the drills, toxic and radioactive substances were released into the environment in the area. Using the IMD-5 radiation dose instruments, the nuclear, biological and chemical observation post detected sources of radiation. Then, using the VPKhR military chemical reconnaissance devices, the servicemen sampled water and ground to scan for contamination. Also, the servicemen practised standards on putting on gas masks, MOPP gear, and disinfected military hardware.
More than 100 servicemen and about 10 pieces of special military hardware were deployed during the drills.
