
Northern Fleet detachment led by frigate Admiral Gorshkov goes on long-distance mission

Today, a Northern Fleet detachment has left the roadstead of Severomorsk and went on a long-distance mission. The detachment's ships set course to the Atlantic through the designated areas of the Barents Sea.
The detachment comprises the missile frigate Admiral Gorshkov, medium sea tanker Akademik Pashin, and rescue tug Nikolay Chiker.
Before leaving the main base of the Northern Fleet, the city of Severomorsk, a solemn meeting was held on board the frigate, during which the sailors were guided by the commander of the formation of missile ships rank Oleg Glachy, Capt. I.
In the next few months, ships and vessels will perform long-distance missions in various parts of the World's Ocean. The main tasks of the mission are to demonstrate the flag and ensure a naval presence in important areas of the far ocean zone.
'The crew is 100% ready, all set tasks will be fully performed,' said commander of the frigate Admiral Gorshkov, Capt. 2nd rank Pavel Konov.
Before sailing off, the ships underwent a full range of training, were checked by the flagship specialists of the Northern Fleet, and performed tasks in the Barents Sea in accordance with the combat training plan for the surface ships and vessels of the Russian Navy.
