Russian Defence Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu inspects compliance with instructions on development of robotic systems, advanced weapons systems, as well as military support
17.04.2024
At the Patriot Congress and Exhibition Centre, the head of the Russian military department received reports from the deputy defence ministers of the Russian Federation and the heads of central military directorates of the Russian Ministry of Defence on new scientific and technical developments in the Russian Armed Forces' combat service support system.
General of the Army Sergei Shoigu was presented with more than 30 promising samples of weapons, military hardware, special equipment, and military-technical materiel from 18 industrial enterprises.
These include multi-role robotic vehicles designed to deliver materiel, evacuate troops, and use as a platform for installing various equipment and weapons, a series of robotic multi-role platforms mounted both on wheelbase and caterpillar track.
The Russian Defence Minister noted that the advanced ground-based medical robotics system presented is extremely needed in the zone of the special military operation, and tasked the designers to direct their efforts towards its early completion, optimisation, and batch production. General of the Army Sergei Shoigu stressed that 'such vehicles should enter the troops as soon as possible and should be as cheap as possible'.
'The vehicle is incredibly expected in the troops. It has to leave for the grouping in the coming days and start working. There is nothing more precious than human life. We need to evacuate the wounded from the front line. We must do it as safely and quickly as possible. It must be used on the front line and launched into the batch production immediately,' the Russian Defence Minister demanded.
Sergei Shoigu ordered to equip the multi-role robotic system for fire support, guarding facilities, and front-line evacuation with additional machine-gun fire means, which will allow it to be used in the course of assault operations.
The Russian Defence Minister personally tested the special vehicle and inspected its road performance. Light and protected special vehicles of this series are designed to transport personnel and ensure that special operations forces units carry out combat tasks with the help of mounted small arms.
The head of the Russian Ministry also demanded an increase in production and supply to the troops of robotic transport platforms for the delivery of materiel.
The Russian Defence Minister was informed that by the end of the following month, the first 30 samples would be manufactured to be supplied to the troops.
General of the Army Sergei Shoigu was also informed about the development of a forward-looking automated system of artillery fire control, which allows to boost the transferring of target data to artillery crews.
The head of the Russian military department also inspected equipment and materiel intended to ensure the living conditions of servicemen. The equipment have already undergone experimental operation in the special military operation zone and have proved their urgency.
The Russian Defence Minister also saw equipment and materiel to organise the living conditions of servicemen in the special military operation zone. Among the samples presented are equipment for sanitization and washing of personnel in the field, a multi-role sleeping module, equipment for cooking in the field, as well as small food kits.
Sergei Shoigu has instructed deputy defence ministers of the Russian Federation and the heads of the central military directorates of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation to make the procedure for receiving advanced weapons as simple as possible if they have passed the tests in the special military operation zone and have received positive results, and if enterprises are ready to put in order their batch production as soon as possible.
