
Pacific Fleet Marines conduct air defence exercise in the Arabian Sea

A detachment of the Pacific Fleet's warships made up of the missile cruiser Guards Order of Nakhimov Varyag and frigate Marshal Shaposhnikov neutralised the simulated air target in the Arabian Sea during an air defence exercise.
According to scenario, the frigate Marshal Shaposhnikov's air defence group detected an air target identified as a mock enemy aircraft.
The ship's commanders decided to lock on the target, prepare the weapons into readiness for use, and employ active and passive camouflage means.
While locking on the 'enemy' aircraft, it was confirmed that it was using its guidance system to launch an air strike.
Air defence crews immediately reacted to the threat and, as the air target approached the detachment's self-defence zone, neutralised the simulated aircraft by an anti-aircraft missile system.
During the exercise, the enemy aircraft was simulated electronically.
At present, a detachment of the warships of the Pacific Fleet continues the transition according to the as part of long-distance mission.
