21.03.2024

Russian Defence Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu inspected fulfilment of state defence order at defence industry enterprises in Nizhniy Novgorod region.

At the enterprise, the Russian Defence Minister inspected the production of air-delivered ordnance, as well as artillery and tank shells of various calibres.

The Director General of the enterprise reported to General of the Army Sergei Shoigu that the enterprise is fully fulfilling the state defence order and since the beginning of this year the output has increased significantly.

Sergei Shoigu was informed that the enterprise has repeatedly increased the production of FAB-500 aerial bombs, doubled the production of FAB-1500 aerial bombs, and since February of this year, mass production of FAB-3000 aerial bombs has been established.

The range of artillery ammunition produced has also been increased.

Since last year, the enterprise's production of modern artillery and aviation weaponry has been increased five-fold.

Such results have been achieved thanks to the enterprise's reactivating production capabilities, technical re-equipment, and modernisation of production lines for the manufacture of projectiles by modern high-tech equipment. Since 2022, the plant has been reconstructed, modernised, and more than 45,000 square metres of production space have been put into service.

The company noted that most of the plant's sections work around the clock on a three-shift working schedule. The total number of employees at the enterprise has raised by more than 1,100 people since 2022. At the same time, the wage rates, salaries, and employee bonuses have been increased, so that on average the salary at the factory went up by 20 per cent.

Also, the Russian Defence Minister inspected the production of artillery ammunition at the defence industry enterprise that manufactures and repairs ammunition for the Giatsint artillery system.

The company's head reported to Sergei Shoigu on the expansion of the plant's production capabilities, where the repair and technical equipping of the shell repair facility were carried out along with the installation of new equipment at the ammunition manufacturing workshop for 122-mm and 152-mm artillery system shells.

A new ammunition assembly workshop has been built at the enterprise. In addition, it is planned to create new storage facilities for artillery shells.

Following the results of the work, the Russian Defence Minister held a working meeting with the participation of the leadership of the Russian Defence Ministry, representatives of the relevant military authorities, and heads of enterprises.

The Russian Defence Minister noted that the enterprises have undergone serious changes since the previous inspection.

'When it comes to the production of artillery ammunition, the volume of artillery ammunition components has been increased by almost 22-fold, 75% of military ammunition components is recovered, which allows us to maintain a sufficient level of supply of projectiles to the special military operation zone. The tasks we set a year ago have been accomplished. New facilities have been built and they work at full capacity', said Sergei Shoigu.

General of the Army Sergei Shoigu emphasised that the tasks to expand the production capacity by enterprises had previously been set.

'When the new facilities began operation, the production volume actually increased by almost 2.5 times,' said the Russian Defence Minister.

The Russian Defence Minister noted that by commissioning new facilities, enterprises are working ahead of the production schedule.

'We were looking forward to an increase in production in the third quarter, and we did so already after the first quarter was actually completed.

And the work is enormous, the enterprise is not just reconstructed and modernised, it is a new enterprise in many ways,' the Russian Defence Minister stressed.

'This is a great achievement of those who work at the enterprises three shifts a week. Such are the times we live in, so thank you for it,' Sergei Shoigu said.
