06.03.2024

Russian Defence Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu inspected fulfilment of the state defence order by enterprises of the Almaz-Antey Corporation.

During the working visit to the Almaz Research and Production Association, Jan Novikov, General Director of Almaz-Antey Corporation, reported to the head of the Russian Defence Ministry that the production of the Yenisei autonomous target designation means, which support the operation of the S-400 anti-aircraft missile system, as well as the Valdai radar systems for detecting and countering unmanned aerial vehicles, in 2023 has been fulfilled.

Director General of the Almaz Research and Production Association Gennady Bendersky reported to Sergei Shoigu that the company has created new means of combating unmanned aerial vehicles, which are currently undergoing factory tests.

The Russian Defence Minister was presented with a mobile guidance station for engaging air targets and the latest models of counter-battery radar stations, the production of which was successfully established in 2023.

Also, the head of the Russian military inspected the production of modern anti-aircraft missile defence systems at the Avangard Moscow Machine-Building Plant JSC.

General Director of the plant Denis Popkov reported to General of the Army Sergei Shoigu on the expansion of the company's production capacity, within the framework of which a branch of the plant was opened in 2023 in the Moscow region, and the construction of four new workshops is underway.

The head of the plant stressed that the measures taken have already allowed to double the volume of output, and after full modernisation of existing facilities and commissioning of new production facilities, the capabilities of the enterprise will double again.

Following the results of the work, the Russian Defence Minister held a working meeting with the heads of enterprises and representatives of the relevant military authorities.

The Russian Defence Minister emphasised the particular importance of the surface-to-air missile system in the current situation, mainly in the zone of the special military operation. 'It concerns both radar and weapons. Moreover, the range weapons the Russian air defence systems are to counter is expending on a daily basis,' Sergei Shoigu said.

'We can see that the enemy possess FPV drones, attack unmanned aerial vehicles of longer range and higher power, HIMARS missiles, and also Soviet-designed weapons. Naturally, we have to decide how to counter them. This is the task your enterprises are to fulfil,' the Russian Defence Minister stressed.

The head of the Russian military department has tasked the Almaz-Antey Corporation management and Commander-in-Chief of Land Forces General of the Army Oleg Salyukov to immediately deploy the produced radar systems of counter-battery warfare together with the armaments. 'And this applies not only to firepower in general, but also to unmanned aerial vehicles. One of the primary tasks of these systems is to respond instantly to enemy fire,' Sergei Shoigu noted.

The Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation stressed that the counter-battery warfare stations are needed not only in the zone of the special military operation but also to protect the Russian facilities in border areas of the country.

The heads of enterprises informed Sergei Shoigu on adjusted supply schedules for armaments to be delivered to the troops. The delivery terms have been shortened in accordance with the instructions of the Russian Defence Minister.

Earlier, the Russian Defence Minister demanded to adjust the schedule of deliveries to the troops for the entire range of weaponry produced, to shift the deadlines for the transfer of equipment from the 4th to the 2nd-3rd quarters, as well as to maintain a uniform delivery of weapons throughout the year.
