Mr Minister,
I welcome you and your delegation.
We are glad that you visit our country regularly. Your visits have become a good tradition. In July 2022, you visited St Petersburg as a member of the Nigerian delegation to attend the 2nd Russia- Africa summit. Today we are welcoming you as the Foreign Minister of Nigeria.
This meeting reflects the long-term friendship between our nations and good prospects for the development of our relations at this stage. We consider Nigeria a priority partner on the African continent.
In the new historical conditions, when the countries of the Global South and East, the Global Majority as we also call them, are starting to defend their interests on the international arena, we discover more common points and congruent approaches in favour of overcoming injustice in international relations and establishing an equal balance of interests in strict compliance with the principles of the UN Charter.
As African countries assert their interests on the agenda of international contacts, our joint work to promote bilateral cooperation in trade, the economy, investment, humanitarian affairs, and other areas, is becoming more effective.
I hope that we will be able to discuss all these matters with you and your representatives, productively and in detail.
