31.01.2024
Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation General of the Army Sergei Shoigu has inspected implementation of the state defence order for the production and repair of the 2S19 Msta-S, 2S3 Akatsiya, 2S4 Tyulpan, 2S5 Giatsint, and 2S35 Koalitsiya SV self-propelled artillery systems at the Ural Plant of Transport Engineering (Uraltransmash).
Oleg Yemelyanov, General Director of Uraltransmash, reported to the Defence Minister that the production volume of self-propelled artillery systems has increased sixfold compared to 2022. Oleg Yemelyanov informed the Minister that the first batch of the 2S35 Koalitsiya SV newest self-propelled artillery systems is in the final stage of production.
During the inspection, the head of the Russian Defence Ministry specified the plans for the next few months of work. The head of the enterprise reported that the plan is being fulfiled and that there is still capacity to increase production.
'If there are opportunities, then we should use these opportunities,' Sergei Shoigu stressed.
The Russian Defence Minister has criticised the company's chief designer for delaying the production of one of its promising artillery systems.
While summarising the results of the work at the plant, Sergei Shoigu noted that the plan to increase the production of self-propelled artillery is an order of the President of the Russian Federation.
'We are talking about self-propelled artillery. We have already reached a good pace in terms of repairs and new Msta guns, and now we need to strengthen it in relation to other systems. In this regard, I would like to receive a report within a week on how we are going to reach the indicators set by the President's order,' Sergei Shoigu said during a meeting with the management of the enterprises.
The Russian Defence Minister noted that the fulfilment of the President's instruction is related to combat work. 'It is necessary to fulfil it. Because all these orders have to do in some way with the very concrete work on the battlefield'.
The Russian Defence Minister stressed that the new self-propelled artillery systems are highly demanded and it is necessary to accelerate the work on testing and the earliest possible start of serial production.
'We have a very strong demand for these arms. That's why I think that today we are going to discuss, decide, and get into a long-term contract. At that point, the outlook will be clear,' Sergei Shoigu pointed out.
Having visited the plant, the Russian Defence Minister noted that 'serious, fundamental changes have taken place. A lot of new equipment has appeared. Naturally, production volumes have increased significantly in this connection'.
Separately, the Russian Defence Minister drew attention to the work on the production of new self-propelled artillery systems.
'Apart from that, there are new works on self-propelled guns. The work has reached its final stage. In February we will receive the first six vehicles. Then there is the ammunition issue: timely delivery is necessary,' Sergei Shoigu said. The Russian Defence Minister noted that groups of factories and enterprises producing ammunition are conducting tests both on firing ranges and in the zone of the special military operation.
During talks with workers in the assembly plants, the Russian Defence Minister was told that the average salary of a worker at the plant is around 130,000 roubles, depending on their qualifications.
