On December 27, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Minister of External Affairs of the Republic of India Subrahmanyam Jaishankar will meet for talks in Moscow.

The Russian-Indian special and privileged strategic partnership is founded on mutual trust and respect. The two countries cooperate extensively in various areas, including political dialogue in bilateral and multilateral formats, and interdepartmental contacts in the economy, finance, energy, military equipment production, science, and culture.

The two foreign ministers will focus on current and future areas of cooperation and discuss the schedule of upcoming meetings, with an emphasis on the further development of sustainable transport, logistics, banking and financial networks, as well as a wider use of national currencies in mutual settlements. They will also address collaboration in high-tech sectors, such as space and nuclear industries, as well as the implementation of joint projects to explore hydrocarbon resources on the Arctic shelf and in Russia's Far East.

Mr Lavrov and Mr Jaishankar will exchange views on pressing international issues, with particular attention to cooperation within the UN, SCO, and G20. They will also discuss Russia's priorities during its BRICS chairmanship next year and hold a discussion on building a fair security architecture in the Asia-Pacific region, as well as the developments in Ukraine and Afghanistan. Additionally, they will address the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

Moscow and New Delhi remain committed to multipolarity as an essential factor to ensure balance in the world order that has emerged over recent decades. Russia provides assistance to the Global South countries in their efforts to defend political and economic sovereignty in the face of expanding neocolonial practices. The priority is to promote a positive agenda and foster an effective interstate dialogue.
