Baltic Fleet Su-27 fighter crews conduct training flights over Black Sea

03.11.2023

A group of Su-27 fighters of the Baltic Fleet naval aviation regiment, as part of planned flights, worked out the tactics of conducting air combat with the mock enemy aircraft. Particular attention was paid to piloting technique with offensive and defensive manoeuvres at various altitudes.

The pilots worked out a takeoff at the standard time on the command 'Air!', searched for a mock violator of the air border of the Russian Federation, and then launched an attack with the execution of an evasion maneuver from air-to-air missiles fired by the mock enemy.

The flight route of the Russian fighters was coordinated with the air traffic control authorities and was carried out in strict accordance with the international rules for the use of airspace over the neutral waters of the Baltic Sea.

Crews of Su-27 fighters practiced searching, detecting and destroying mock enemy aircraft.

In addition to improving flight training, the crews of multi-purpose highly maneuverable Su-27 fighters are on round-the-clock combat duty, guarding the air borders of Kaliningrad region.

The flights involved a total of about 10 Su-27 crews.
