Russian Defence Minister General of Army Sergei Shoigu holds conference call with senior staff of Armed Forces

01.11.2023

I would like to start with the situation in the special military operation zone.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine continue unsuccessful attacks at Russian positions in Zaporozhye, Donetsk, and Kherson directions.

Such desperate actions of the enemy result in great losses of Ukrainian troops.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine deplete of manpower, the personnel are increasingly demoralised.

Despite supplies of new types of NATO weaponry, the Kiev regime is losing.

The Russian Groups of Forces continue to engage in active defence effectively inflicting losses on the enemy.

Our units move forward taking more advantageous lines and positions. Servicemen of the 25th, 138th, and 114th motorised infantry brigades distinguished themselves in the course of combat operations.

Air defence crews successfully perform tasks.

Over the past month, more than 1,400 AFU air attack weapons, including 37 aircraft and 6 U.S.-made ATACMS operational-tactical missiles, were intercepted.

I would like to point out, that 37 intercepted aircraft are almost two times more than the amount of F-16 fighter jets promised to Ukraine. Our air defence units will neutralise that amount in 20 days given the current rate of combat missions.

I want to thank our servicemen for courage, resilience, and perseverance protecting our Motherland.

Now we are moving to the thematic part of the teleconference.

At the beginning, we will oversee the results of implementation of the Ministry's Board resolution dated 24 May on development of junior specialists training in the Russian Armed Forces.

Widespread introduction of high-tech weaponry in the special military operation zone made it necessary to increase the number of servicemen capable of effectively using it according to the acquired combat experience.

To solve this task, more than 93 thousand specialists have been trained this year.

More than 25,000 of them will additionally man groups of forces, as well as newly formed formations and military units.

The results of the examinations showed that the trainees have learnt the knowledge and skills at the appropriate level.

This allowed them to take up their duties without additional troop training.

Today, let's hear what steps have been taken to improve the learning process.

The next issue is supplying units in the Northern regions of Russia.

At present, the delivery of cargoes to military units stationed in the Far North and other hard-to-reach areas is fully completed.

Over 76,000 tonnes of food, clothing and medical equipment, armaments, petrol, oil and lubricants, and boiler fuel were transported.

According to the regulations, remote and isolated garrisons are provided with sufficient materiel to function autonomously for a year and a half.

Also, during the navigation period, efforts were taken on the elimination of environmental damage in the Arctic.

In total, more than 31,000 tonnes of scrap metal have been exported to the mainland since the start of the project.

During the meeting, we will take a detailed look at what has been done to supply individual military units and clear the Arctic, as well as outline tasks for the future.
