New Almaz-Antey plant in Rudnevo is to produce air defence systems.

'The opening of the buildings of the future Almaz-Antey Concern plant is a major step towards strengthening the country's defence capability. Domestic air defence systems, which are rightfully considered the best in the world, will be produced here. They are distinguished by their efficiency, reliability and ease of operation, which has been convincingly proved during the special military operation,' said Sergei Shoigu at the ceremony.

At the same time, he noted that 'today, under the conditions of a complex military and political situation, it is important to maintain the equipment of the army and navy at a level that guarantees an adequate response to any challenges and threats to Russia's security.'

The Russian Minister of Defence stressed that 'the solution of this task largely depends on the ability of defence enterprises to meet the needs of the troops in weapons and military hardware in a short time and in full'.

He expressed confidence that 'the launch of the plant will make it possible to increase the rate of production of the most demanded weapons and will contribute to strengthening the military potential of the Russian Federation'.

The head of the Russian military department thanked Sergei Sobyanin, Denis Manturov and Moscow builders 'for the successful implementation of an important project for the country'.

He expressed confidence that in the future those who will install the equipment, launch it and adjust it 'will approach this work with the same responsibility and in the same short timeframe will organise and set up the production of the highly demanded and incredibly effective air defence system'.

Sergei Shoigu noted that this system, 'which today shows itself not only in our country, but also far abroad, which is in demand, first of all, by the Armed Forces in the zone of the special military operation, which protects the skies of Moscow and other cities, and many facilities critical for the economy of our country.'

'It is also highly demanded by our foreign colleagues, partners, those who buy these systems from us, because they are the best in the world and, I hope, will continue to be so,' stressed the Russian Defence Minister.
