On 15 October 2023, Russian airspace control systems detected an aerial target approaching the State border of the Russian Federation over the Black Sea.
One Su-27 fighter jet from air defence duty force was alerted to identify the air target, and to prevent a violation of the State border of the Russian Federation.
The Russian fighter jet identified the air target as RQ-4B Global Hawk reconnaissance UAV of U.S. Air Force.
As the Russian fighter jet approached, a foreign reconnaissance UAV made a U-turn away from the State border of the Russian Federation.
The Russian aircraft returned safely to the home airfield. There was no violation of the State border.
The flight of the Russian fighter jet was carried out in strict compliance with international rules on the use of airspace over international waters with observance of safety measures.
