Northern Fleet ships detachment completes tasks of long-distance campaign in Arctic and returns to base

Today, the main base of the Northern Fleet - Severomorsk - hosted a meeting of a detachment of ships and support vessels of the Northern Fleet, which completed the implementation of the next, 12th Arctic campaign on the seas of the Arctic Ocean and acted as part of the Arctic expeditionary ship grouping.

The report on the successful completion of the assigned tasks by the crews of warships and support vessels was received by the Chief of Staff of the Northern Fleet, Vice Admiral Konstantin Kabantsov.

The Chief of the Fleet Staff congratulated the North Sea sailors who took part in the long-distance campaign on the successful solution of all tasks and returning home.

The twelfth Arctic campaign of the Northern Fleet began on August 10 and lasted 64 days. The Arctic group under the flag of the Deputy commander of the Northern Fleet, Vice Admiral Oleg Golubev, has traveled more than 10,000 miles during this time. The geography of the hike covers the waters of the Arctic seas from the Franz Josef Land archipelago to the Novosibirsk Islands.

During the campaign, the North Sea sailors conducted a number of exercises on the defence of the island and continental territories of Russia in the Arctic, interacted with the tactical groups of the Northern Fleet, located on a permanent basis on the islands of Zemlya-Alexandra and Kotelny in the Arctic Ocean. The sailors of the Northern Fleet also conducted a set of exercises to ensure the safety of maritime navigation and other types of maritime economic activity of Russia in the Arctic zone.
