18.08.2023
The North Atlantic Alliance once again uses Cold War strategies against Russia. Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation - Chief of the Main Directorate for Political-Military Affairs of the Russian Armed Forces - Colonel General Viktor Goremykin pointed out that during his speech at the II International Anti-Fascist Congress held in Minsk.
'At the NATO summit in Vilnius in July 2023 the North Atlantic Alliance once again uses Cold War strategies against Russia. In the documents, Russia is declared the most significant and direct threat to the NATO's security. Collective West is not ready to put up with development of multi-polar world and is willing to defend its hegemony any means necessary, including military ones,' said Victor Goremykin. He recalled NATO's decision to deploy a three-hundred-thousand-strong bloc force in one of the alliance countries within a month in case of a threat with the possibility for advanced formations to engage in combat operations within three days.
'Measures for long-term support of Ukraine and modernisation of the Ukrainian army to NATO standards are taken into account. Kiev has been promised supplies of increasingly modern and long-range weapons', Goremykin pointed out. The Deputy Defence Minister pointed out that the collective West continues to deliver weaponry to the Kiev regime, forces Kiev to conduct suicidal counter-offensives, demonstrate tactical successes despite heavy losses in manpower and equipment, and does everything to prolong and escalate the conflict.
'NATO uses the Ukrainian crisis as an excuse to build up its forces. Yet another phase of alliance expansion has been put into motion. Military infrastructure is being modernised and strike weapons are being deployed in Eastern and Central Europe. The Polish General Command announced the strengthening of the military presence in the east of the country near the borders of Belarus and Russia', he said.
Viktor Goremykin said that in the conditions of extremely sharp aggravation of threats and NATO activity near the borders of the Union State, Moscow and Minsk are forced to take retaliatory measures. 'The most important of these is the deployment of non-strategic nuclear weapons of the Russian Federation on the territory of the Republic of Belarus. The Iskander-M operational-tactical system capable of launching missiles with nuclear warheads was handed over to Belarus. Belarusian aircraft have been re-equipped for possible use of nuclear weapons,' he said, recalling the words of Russian President Vladimir Putin that Moscow will respond to attempts of aggression against Minsk with all means at its disposal.
The Russian Defence Ministry has proposed the establishment of a joint coordination council with the Belarusian Defence Ministry for systematic work with young people to counter the information and psychological warfare conducted by the West. Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation - Chief of the Main Directorate for Political-Military Affairs of the Russian Armed Forces - Colonel General Viktor Goremykin pointed out that during his speech at the II International Anti-Fascist Congress held in Minsk.
'In order to streamline this work, it is proposed to form a coordination council or working group under the ministries of defence of Russia and the Republic of Belarus with the inclusion of qualified specialists, cultural figures, consultants on scientific and historical issues, military experts with extensive military knowledge and practical experience, representatives of youth movements,' said Viktor Goremykin.
He noted that systematic work in patriotic education of youth and preservation of military-historical heritage becomes more important than ever before. 'In our opinion, the main object of the information and psychological warfare announced to us by the West is, first of all, young people. That is why joint activities to fight for historical truth must be carried out continuously and on a permanent basis, covering all categories of young citizens,' said the deputy head of the Russian Defence Ministry.
According to Goremykin, it is necessary to use innovative active and interactive forms and methods in such efforts. 'Organise patriotic digital lessons based on prepared video material, talk shows on armed forces media resources for young people. Strengthen the educational role of exhibition activities with the wide display in cities, garrisons, schools and universities of declassified and poorly researched archive documents exposing fascism and neo-Nazism, including their distribution via the Internet through messengers and social networks,' the Deputy Minister of Defence said, citing examples.
Colonel General Goremykin also suggested organizing panel discussions and open dialogues with invitations to them by prominent speakers, historians, veterans of combat operations, as well as forming lecture groups similar to the propaganda work in the area of special operations. Viktor Goremykin expressed confidence that the II International Anti-Fascist Congress in Minsk would play its role in consolidating the efforts of the international community to counteract the ideology and manifestations of neo-Nazism in modern conditions. 'Next year it is proposed to continue the tradition and hold the III International Anti-Fascist Congress on the territory of the Russian Federation,' said Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation.
