Russian Ministry of Defence signed state contracts for more than 400 billion roubles with defence industry companies at ARMY 2023 International Military-Technical Forum

Head of the Main Directorate for Innovative Development of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation Major General Aleksandr Osadchuk briefed the journalists on the results of the third day of the ARMY 2023 International Military-Technical Forum.

The Russian Ministry of Defence reached and granted state contracts for more than 400 billion roubles with defence industry companies at the ARMY 2023 International Military-Technical Forum.

Eleven contacts have been signed and 9 contacts have been reached.

Upon fulfilment of the contracts, the Armed Forces of Russian Federation will receive more than 2,500 new samples of weaponry, military and special hardware, and over 1,800,000 pieces of armaments. Head of the Main Armament Department of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Lieutenant General Anatoly Gulyaev supervised the signing ceremony of state contacts.

'At Alabino firing range during ARMY 2023 International Military-Technical Forum a showcase of weaponry, military and special hardware of the Ground Forces and Airborne Troops in action took place,' Head of the Main Directorate for Innovative Development of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation Major General Aleksandr Osadchuk said.

'In the course of 10 events, Russian and foreign experts, as well as military attachés of the Forum's participating countries, had an opportunity to witness combat capabilities of modern weaponry, military and special hardware pieces,' Osadchuk said.

T-90MC, T-14 Armata tanks, BTR-82AT armoured personnel carriers, BMD-4M airborne assault vehicles, Tigr-V SpN special purpose armoured fighting vehicles, KAMAZ all-terrain special purpose vehicles with 4х4, 6х6, 8х8 wheel arrangement and armoured cabin, Iskander-M operational-tactical missile systems, 152mm Msta-S self-propelled howitzers were demonstrated during the events. For the first time, Plastun all-terrain vehicles on universal track platform were demonstrated in action.

'In total, more than 7,000 people took part in 123 Scientific and Business Programme events since the start of the Forum,' said Major General Aleksandr Osadchuk.

He added that delegations of defence departments of 82 foreign states, representatives of the League of Arab States, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Collective Security Treaty Organisation, the International Committee of the Red Cross, the United Nations took part in the Forum on 16 August.

In the course of the Forum, bilateral meetings were organised and held between the Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, General of the Army Sergei Shoigu, and the heads of the defence departments of China, Vietnam, Mongolia, and Namibia.

Colonel General Aleksandr Fomin, Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, held bilateral meetings with the heads of the military delegations of Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Egypt, and Sri Lanka. In addition, bilateral meetings were held through the Russian Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation with the delegations of Burkina Faso, Venezuela, Egypt, India, China, Serbia, Uzbekistan, Eswatini, and Ethiopia.

Deputy Minister of Defence Colonel General Yunus-Bek Yevkurov held meetings with counterparts from the Central African Republic, Mali, Burkina Faso, the Republic of Guinea, and Libya.

In addition, 14 bilateral meetings were held by the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation.

A total of 41 bilateral meetings were held during the Forum.

The Science and Inventions for Life Festival of the All-Russian Society of Inventors and Innovators (VOIR) takes place during the ARMY 2023 IMTF.

The VOIR Festival is organised so that young engineers and inventors can attend the Forum, as well as present their projects to specialists of leading Russian companies and corporations, personally take part in the exhibition and competition programme. In addition, such involvement of children and youth in the Forum gives them the opportunity to touch the technologies of the future today, strengthens patriotism and love for the Motherland.

The Festival presents exhibition samples from young scientists, engineers, participants of the All–Russian Conference 'Young Technicians and Inventors', students, inventors and innovators - members of the VOIR. Russian inventors from Moscow, Yekaterinburg, Sevastopol, Irkutsk, Kazan and other cities present their inventions to the public. They may be of interest not only to the defence industry, but also to business. These are internal combustion engines, optical biopsy devices, shock-resistant tele-inspection drones, aerosol fire extinguishing systems and many other things.

All visitors can become participants of the VOIR 'Science and Inventions for Life' Festival, participate in the scientific and business programme, see inventions and join master classes during ARMY 2023 IMTF.

Today, exhibition of advanced weaponry, military and special equipment continues its work, where the main elements of advanced reconnaissance and fire artillery systems are presented.

This year the Forum's sensation is the site of the Dronbiathlon club. For the first time there is an extended set of events, including a static exhibition exposition of drones and countermeasures systems, a scientific and business programme with the participation of representatives of federal executive authorities, leading industrial enterprises, scientific and business elites, as well as heads of leading schools for training volunteer FPV drone pilots. The championship programme includes competitions and master classes on practical tasks of FPV drone piloting in a complex radio-electronic environment, reconnaissance and target engagement using methods tested in a real combat scenario.
