15.08.2023
Russian-Mongolian military cooperation is being strengthened, Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu said. 'No matter how the international situation changes, the course for strengthening bilateral cooperation remains unchanged,' Sergei Shoigu said during a working meeting with Minister of Defence of Mongolia Gürsediin Saikhanbayar at the 11th Moscow Conference on International Security.
'I am sure, that this meeting will serve to develop relations in the defence sphere,' Sergei Shoigu said, noting that he was glad for the opportunity to discuss 'topical issues of bilateral military cooperation.' He thanked his colleague for his decision to personally participate in the 11th Moscow Conference on International Security and the ARMY 2023 International Military-Technical Forum, which started on Monday.
Russian Defence Minister also noted that the peoples of the two countries have 'experienced a lot' during the century-long period of cooperation. 'Shoulder to shoulder we defended the independence of our states on the battlefields, including the battle against Japanese invaders on the Khalkhin Gol River, the 85th anniversary of the Victory in which we will mark next year,' said Sergei Shoigu, adding that noting that 'traditionally good-neighbourly Russian-Mongolian ties have a long history.'
