Russian military delegation presented its approaches to combating terrorism to ASEAN participants

04.08.2023

During the joint command and staff training, a delegation from the Russian Ministry of Defence presented its approaches to combating terrorism to participants from ASEAN member countries and ADMM Plus dialogue partners.

Of particular interest to all the military delegations involved in the command and staff training (CST) was the organisation of the Centre for Reconciliation of the Parties, which is charged with the tasks of reconciling the warring parties, monitoring compliance with the ceasefire of hostilities, returning refugees from the territories of foreign countries and their integration into peaceful life, and providing humanitarian assistance to the local population.

The training participants also stressed the importance of using modern radio-electronic warfare samples to counter unmanned aerial vehicles and ensure radio-electronic protection of the most important state and military facilities. The CST, which began on 2 August in the capital city of the Republic of Myanmar, involves representatives of the military departments of Brunei, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and Vietnam.

The ADMM Plus mechanism was established in 2010. It allows interaction between the defence departments of ten countries and dialogue partner states. The purpose of ADMM Plus is to create conditions for discussion of defence and security issues and to ensure interaction between partner countries.
