03.08.2023
Special Forces units of the Syrian Arab Army together with the Russian Aerospace Forces' crews conducted a tactical exercise at night in Hama province for the first time.
According to the plan of the exercise, enemy units attempted an offensive on the government troops' positions and captured a settlement with residents.
In the course of the exercise, the command of the Russian Group of Troops together with the command of the Syrian Arab Army decided to conduct a joint night airborne operation to liberate the settlement.
The Russian Aerospace Forces' Su-35 fighter jets and Su-24 fighter-bomber crews together with the Syrian Armed Forces' artillery units launched fire attacks at mock enemy critical facilities. The Russian Aerospace Forces' Ka-52 attack helicopters destroyed enemy hardware and fortifications of mock terrorists. As a result, 25th Special Forces Division Tiger vehicles conducted a tactical airborne landing in the operation area. During the operation, the Syrian Arab Army units landed from a height of 1,500-3,000 metres with weapons on Russian Arbalet-2 parachute systems and desended from Mi-8AMTSh helicopters of the Russian Aerospace Forces. Assault units on high mobility vehicles and armoured fighting vehicles stormed the settlement and eliminated the mock terrorists who captured it.
The command of the Group of Troops (Forces) of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in Syria and the senior staff of the Armed Forces of the Syrian Arab Republic praised cohesive actions of Russian and Syrian units.
