Northern Fleet's naval minesweeper Vladimir Gumanenko undergoes drills in the Sea of Barents
11.07.2023
The minesweeper Vladimir Gumanenko of the Northern Fleet's joint forces Kola flotilla performed tasks at the Sea of Barents firing ranges.
The onboard artillery crews fired at mock enemy targets, as well as underwent firing drills with shore-based targets.
The ship's crew installed contact and influence sweeps, guided a submarine and a ship detachment through a naval minefield.
During those specific drills, the minesweeper crew practised mine countermeasures in the area, where the small anti-submarine ship Brest had carried out mine laying.
At the drills final stage, the minesweeper crew will fire onboard small-calibre artillery to destroy a training floating mine.
Shortly, the minesweeper will continue to operate in the coastal zone of the Barents Sea to improve the crew's training and to practise certain elements of the second course task.
