On July 10, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud on the sidelines of the sidelines of the sixth ministerial meeting of the Russia-Gulf Cooperation Council strategic dialogue in Moscow.
During the meeting, priority topics related to the progressive development of traditionally friendly bilateral relations were discussed, with a focus on the practical implementation of the agreements reached earlier at the highest level, including the further promotion of mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation, as well as expansion of cultural ties. Emphasis was placed on continuing constructive cooperation in the OPEC+ format.
The foreign ministers compared approaches on current international and Middle East agenda items and stated that the principled approaches of Moscow and Riyadh were the same or similar, and are in favour of settling current Middle East crises through political and diplomatic means with consideration for the lawful interests of all involved parties, on a generally accepted international legal basis and in accordance with the provisions of the UN Charter.
