Pacific Fleet's frigate Varyag and frigate Marshall Shaposhnikov return to the Fleet's base after drills in the Pacific Ocean

03.07.2023

The Guards missile cruiser Varyag, flagship of the Pacific Fleet, and frigate Marshall Shaposhnikov have returned to the Fleet's base in Vladivostok after drills in the Pacific Ocean.

For more than a month, the vessels performed tasks in the designated areas of the Sea of Okhotsk and the Sea of Japan, as well as in the off-shore maritime zone.

Before arriving in Vladivostok, the vessels travelled thousands of nautical miles while undergoing exercises during the Fleet's drills.

The ships' crews underwent drills on air defence and anti-submarine warfare, and conducted dozens of private exercises and joint training sessions. The Pacific Fleet's сommand set tasks to be performed at sea in conditions as close to combat as possible with imitation of countermeasures by a mock enemy.

The Guards missile cruiser Varyag and frigate Marshall Shaposhnikov are the last vessels to arrive at the base after the drills.

Right before returning to Vladivostok, the vessels crossed La Pérouse Strait from the Sea of Okhotsk to the Sea of Japan.
