Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation

Russian Defence Minister gives a welcome speech at special teleconference

03.07.2023

I will start with the situation in the zone of the special military operation.

The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue to inflict effective fire damage on the enemy significantly reducing the offensive potential of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

The Groups of the Russian Armed Forces have neutralised 15 airplanes, three helicopters, and 920 pieces of armoured hardware, including 16 Leopard tanks, in the South Donetsk, Zaporozhye, and Donetsk directions alone, where Ukrainian troops are making futile attacks. This is nearly all of the tanks of this type that Poland and Portugal provided to the AFU.

The Ukrainian troops have lost a total of about 2,500 pieces of various weapons in all directions since 4 June 2023.

Moreover, over the past month, Russian air defence units have shot down 158 HIMARS rockets, 25 Storm Shadow cruise missiles, and 386 unmanned aerial vehicles.

Overall, neither of the enemy's goals in either direction has been met. This confirms the prowess of Russian warriors and the obviously inflated hopes for the acclaimed Western armaments.

The Ukrainian leadership, under the pressure of its Western controllers, is insisting that the AFU command continue the attack despite the significant losses.

By using terrorist shelling of civilian targets to achieve a propaganda effect, Kiev is attempting to make up for its inability to guarantee success on the ground.

It has been feasible to minimise civilian losses and save hundreds of lives because of the professional activities of Russian servicemen.

I must take into consideration one more issue to which our Supreme Commander-in-Chief has already given a comprehensive answer.

It is about an attempt to destabilise the situation in Russia on 23-25 of June 2023.

These plans failed mainly because the Armed Forces personnel were loyal to the military oath and their military duty.

The provocation itself did not have any impact on actions of the Groups of Forces.

I thank the Russian servicemen for their faithful service.

Now let us move to the agenda of our meeting. We have to address two issues.

The first concerns the execution of a state contract on repairing and modernisation of the A-50 aircraft by the Taganrog Aviation Scientific-Technical Complex named after G.M. Beriev.

These flying radars have found their use in the special military operation. The modernisation of these aviation complexes in time will considerably increase efficiency of the Groups of Forces in completing their missions.

Today we will discuss how the company is fulfilling its obligations to the Ministry of Defence.

Next, we will be briefed on the course of the newly formed military units' combat training.

In accordance with the Presidential Decree on increasing the strength of the Armed Forces, the command of the Moscow and Leningrad military districts, the combined arms army and the army corps are undergoing a process of formation now.

At the moment, the scheduled supply of weapons, military and special hardware is being carried out along with recruiting, training, and unit cohesion efforts.
