Russian Defence Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu opening remarks at the Russian Defence Ministry Board session
20.06.2023
Good afternoon, dear colleagues!
At the beginning, I would like to brief you on the course of the special military operation.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces continue on offensive operation in the South Donetsk, Zaporozhye, and Donetsk direction. The Kiev region deploys large amounts of western weaponry and elite units, trained by NATO instructors.
Since 4 June 2023, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have launched 263 attack at Russian Forces positions.
Due to competent and dedicated actions of Russian units, all attacks have been repelled, the enemy failed to achieve its goals.
Judging by our information, the Armed Forces of Ukraine command plans to launch strikes at Russian Federation territory, including Crimea, with HIMARS and Storm Shadow missiles.
Deployment of these particular missiles out off the special military operation zone will be regarded as direct involvement of USA and UK in the conflict and will result in immediate retaliatory strikes at decision-making centres in Ukraine territory.

More than 300 scientific and business events are planned to review topical aspects concerning development of the Armed Forces, the Russian defence industry complex, and international military-technical cooperation.
The successful work of the forum will require coordinated actions by the military authorities and all interested structures.
Security issues during this event must be taken under special control.
Next, we will discuss the training of military transport aviation.
The volume of military airlift is increasing every year.
This is due to an increase in the number of combat training events, exercises, snap inspections, as well as tasks within the framework of international military co-operation, including providing support for the actions of the Russian grouping in Syria and peacekeeping forces.
In addition, military transport aviation is involved in assisting Russian regions and foreign countries in extinguishing forest fires and dealing with the consequences of natural disasters.
Since the beginning of the special military operation in Ukraine, the intensity of military transport aviation flights has more than doubled. To date, AN-124 and IL-76 aircraft have performed over 10,000 flights and transported 2,300 units of hardware, over 300,000 troops and 150,000 tonnes of cargo.
The A-50 and Il-22 aircraft conducted almost 5,000 special combat sorties.
The fleet of military transport aviation is regularly updated and its number is increasing.
In these conditions, it is necessary to continue to improve the quality of military transport aviation, paying particular attention to the training of flight crews.
