On June 14, Brian Ebel, the deputy chief of the Canadian diplomatic mission in Moscow, was summoned to the Foreign Ministry and issued a demarche in connection with the stated intention of the government of Canada to confiscate an Antonov An-124 cargo aircraft, property of Volga-Dnepr. The aircraft has been illegally detained at the Toronto Airport since February 2022.
It was noted that Russia views this step as cynical theft. According to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, this decision was taken in order to transfer the aircraft to the Kiev regime. This amounts to an attempt at undisguised robbery and the appropriation of a unique aircraft that delivered Covid-19 medications to Toronto under a humanitarian project and at the request of the Canadian government, and was seized in a disgraceful manner.
The Canadian diplomat was told that the actions of the official Ottawa and its Russophobic policy will entail the most serious repercussions for Russian-Canadian relations, which are on the verge of being severed through the fault of the Trudeau administration.
