National Centre for State Defence Control hosts Defence Ministry Board Session chaired by General of the Army Sergei Shoigu
24.05.2023
General of the Army Sergei Shoigu started is address with a few words regarding another terrorist attack carried out by the Kiev regime against unarmed civilians. On 22 May 2023, a unit of a Ukrainian nationalist formation attacked Russian territory close to the Kozinka border crossing in Belgorod region.
The nationalist formations were stopped and annihilated during the counterterrorism operation which involved airstrikes, artillery fire, and active actions of the units guarding the state border of the Western Military District.
After being driven back into Ukraine, the remaining nationalists were repeatedly attacked until they were completely eliminated.
More than 70 Ukrainian terrorists were neutralised, as well as motor and armoured vehicles. Russia will keep responding to such actions of Ukrainian militants promptly and rigorously.
Then, the Defence Minister turned to the agenda of the session. First, he moved to consider implementation of social guarantees for military personnel involved in the special military operation and their families.
To date, the rights of this group have been significantly enhanced by the adoption of 63 normative legal acts.
The status of combat veteran was established, and additional compensation was given, including for exceptional performance of missions.
Loans are repaid or loan vacations are given, and lump sum aid in the amounts of three and five million rubles is given to wounded servicemen and bereaved families, respectively.
The command of military units and local authorities pay special attention to the families of servicemen. Women's councils, veteran's organisations, and Yuarmiya members are all actively involved in offering targeted help.
Additional assistance is provided by charitable foundations and public organisations.
The decision of the President of the Russian Federation established the State Fund to Support Participants of the Special Military Operation 'Defender of the Fatherland'.
'This kind of organised work will continue,' Sergei Shoigu said. 'We believe it is crucial for military personnel involved in the special military operation to be aware that their nearest and dearest are being protected by the government'.
Next, let's discuss how the training of junior specialists in the Armed Forces is improving. Since the start of the special military operation, more than 120,000 troops have received training.
More than 21,000 specialists were trained specifically for Russian groups of forces and newly established formations, and military units, including about 5,000 troops for the use of advanced models like T-90M Proryv tanks, BMP-2M IFV with Berezhok combat module, BMP-3 IFV, as well as various unmanned aerial vehicles.
It should be noted that the training centres offer training programmes for both individuals and tank and combat vehicle crews, including training for formations and military units being formed in new territories.
There is no doubt that the workload on the educational system has increased significantly recently, but this should not in any way affect the quality of the educational process.
Training programmes need to be adjusted to take into account the experience of the special military operation.
'Military personnel must be proficient in new combat techniques, be able to use weapons effectively, and be aware of enemy tactics and techniques in order to counter the adversary skillfully,' the Defence Minister added.
