In the city of Rayagada in eastern India, Pavel Antov, a 65-year-old deputy of the legislative assembly of the Vladimir region, the founder of a large producer of meat and sausage products, the Vladimir Standard company, died. This was reported on the website of the Legislative Assembly without details about the cause and place of death.

The Indian media NDTV and OdishaTV wrote about the death of the deputy (they transcribe the surname as "Antom"). According to NDTV, he fell out of a hotel window on December 25 in the state of Odisha, where he was vacationing as part of a tour group of four. According to the TV channel with reference to the local police, the death of the Russian is being investigated as a suicide.

At the same time, a few days later, on December 22, Antov's friend, 61-year-old businessman from Yoshkar-Ola Vladimir Bydanov, became ill in the room "due to excessive amounts of alcohol", and he died in the hospital. Russian Consul General in Calcutta Alexey Idamkin said that the police "so far do not see a criminal component" in these two deaths of Russians in India. According to him, the investigation into the case of the first deceased has already been completed, and his body has been cremated.

In the 2000s, Antov founded the Vladimir Standard meat processing plant, he still had a 5% stake in the company. In 2018, he was elected to the Legislative Assembly of the Vladimir Region from United Russia and headed the committee on agrarian policy, environmental management and ecology. In the same year, he declared an income of 9.97 billion rubles and took first place in the Forbes ranking of incomes of civil servants and deputies. The following year, he was ranked 26th, and in 2021 he did not make the list.

In June, a story about the shelling of a residential building in Kiev by the Russian army appeared on Antov's WhatsApp account . "To tell the truth, it is extremely difficult to call it anything other than terror," the deputy wrote. A few minutes later, the story disappeared, and Antov called it "the result of a technical error." "I emphasize once again that I am a supporter of the president and a patriot of my country, I sincerely share the goals of the NVO," the deputy said at the time.
