On September 23, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with Foreign Minister of the Republic of Cuba Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla on the sidelines of the 77th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
The ministers, in a traditionally trust-based and constructive manner, exchanged views on current issues of bilateral strategic partnership.
They reaffirmed the invariable approach of the two nations regarding their categorical rejection of the use of unilateral sanctions.
Bruno Rodriguez reaffirmed Cuba's solidarity with Russia's efforts to defend peace, security and international law on the basis of the UN Charter. The Russian side reiterated its support for Havana in its fair demand for a full and prompt lifting of the US embargo.
A five-year schedule of consultations between the foreign ministries was signed in order to maintain their intensive dialogue.
