Press release on Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov's meeting with President of the Republic of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa

On November 18, Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov met with President of the Republic of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa in Pretoria. Mr Bogdanov passed on to the president a personal message from President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

During their conversation, the parties discussed a range of topical matters regarding the future development of the traditionally friendly Russia-South Africa relations, including efforts to expand mutually beneficial cooperation in trade, economy, science, technology, culture, humanitarian sphere and other fields. They reaffirmed the mutual commitment of Moscow and Pretoria to deepening trust-based political dialogue and to effectively coordinating their actions at various international venues, including the UN, BRICS and the G20.

The parties also focused on coordinating steps to prepare for and hold the Second Russia-Africa Summit, scheduled for the autumn of 2022, and noted that South Africa was certain to make a weighty contribution to the forum.
